How to do Waterproofing On Terrace Floor ?
How to do Water Proofing On Terrace Floor & Water Tank
INTRODUCTION
/ SCOPE
The purpose of the
application of waterproofing is to prevent the water to percolate or penetrate
into any water susceptible concrete members.
OBJECT:
- To ensure all concrete members
should be water tight
PRINCIPLE
Concrete
is highly susceptible to water penetration. Microstructure of concrete has air
voids through which water can percolate and pass through by forming
capillaries. Water if percolates would rust the steel reinforcement
deteriorating the strength on concrete
MATERIAL
Cement,
Sand, Water proofing compound, Bitumen (VG-10) 80/100 , Clay Brick tile, Good
soil, Anti-termite chemical, Cow Dung , Bhoosa,
Fire Wood, keroscene oil
APPARATUS /
EQUIPMENT
Trowel, Tagadi, Brush, Chisel, Hammer, Wire
brush,
HEALTH AND SAFETY
PROVISION
- All works shall comply with safety procedure
- All field personnel will use PPE
MUD PHUSKA
PREPARATORY
WORK:
- Plaster of parapet, Mumty machine room ,Water
tank, Expansion joint treatment at terrace level must be completed before
start of water proofing
- Scaffolding or left out material
should be removed
- Any debris or deposit on
the surface should be removed.
- The surface must be
thoroughly cleaned and free from dust, dirt loose materials, oil or
grease.
- Level should be marked on
parapet minimum 600 above terrace
- All rain water pipe is to
be fixed
- Ridge line to be marked
PROCEDURE OR METHODOLOGY:
- Convex gola of 1:2:4 cement
concrete with water proofing compound shall be prepared along parapet,
mumty and shaft wall.
- Uniform layer of bitumen(VG-10)
shall be applied on terrace. Painted with hot bitumen of approved quality penetration
80/100 or equivalent @1.7Kg/Sqm.
Bitumen shall be applied on parapet upto a height of 100mm above finish floor level.
- Good soil shall be laid in
desired slope with minimum thickness of 75 mm.
- Compact the laid soil with wooden
rammer.
- Do ATT after completion of
compaction.
- Prepare a homogenous mix of
good soil , cow dung & bhusa in ratio 8:1:1.
- Spread homogenous mix over
compacted soil, thickness shall not be less than 25mm
- Allow surface to air dry till
cracks appear
- Fill the cracks with the same
homogenous mix
- Lay the brick tile over dry
surface of homogeneous mix with the help of mud mortar
- Joints in brick tiles shall
not be less than 6 mm.
- Joint of parapet and tile
surface should be treated with concave gola.
- Pointing of brick tiles shall
be carried out with 1:4 cement mortar
- Prepare khurra at RWP
location
INSPECTION
