METHOD STATEMENT
FOR Door Shutter
AND FIXTURE FITTING WORKS
INTRODUCTION
This
method statement describes the activities for door shutter fixing works to use
on site. The purpose of this procedure is to provide guideline to carry out the
door shutter fixing work at site and to ensure that proper quality control and
documentation are maintained at site.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
PROVISIONS
1.
Proper stacking
of material :
i)
Door
shutter should be stacked horizontally over three wooden channel (4”X4” or
3”X5”) placed over flat surface.
ii)
Unloading
and Storage shall be performed carefully so as to avoid any damage to door shutters and fittings.
iii)
All
material should be placed in dry, dust free, non corrosive atmosphere.
2.
General
Precautions :
i)
Door
fitting to be kept safely to control theft or being misplaced.
ii)
Door
Shutter should be properly closed and locked after fixing to avoid getting damaged
from wind.
PREPARATORY WORK
1.
Check
plumb of door frame.
2.
Check
orientation of door shutter with drawing.
3.
Ensure
all hinges are free from rust.
4.
Make
the door shutter in proper size by saw and planer. While resizing, both sides
shall be cut equally to maintain the uniformity of door. After resizing, primer
and paint shall be applied to the door frame.
5.
Primer
and paint shall be applied on the door shutter before shifting, then after
shifting to site, resizing shall be done, and primer and paint shall be applied
on all edges of the door shutter, including top and bottom, then after fixing,
final layer of paint shall be applied.
PROCEDURE
1.
Mark
location of hinges on door shutter.
2.
Ensure
a gap to be maintained of 5 mm between frame and shutter on all 4 sides.
3.
Use
flat headed screws (35x8) mm to fix door shutter with hinges and ensure all
screws are screwed properly by screw driver.
4.
Check
free movement of door shutter on hinges by opening and closing door.
5.
Fixtures
are to be fixed, Upper Tower bolt-10 inches, Lower Tower bolt-6 inches, Buffer
at back side and a stopper in front, lock handles, L-Drop on main door shutter,
mortice and cylindrical locks on door, and security chain and magic eye on main
door.
6.
All
fittings are to be covered with masking tape and Second Coat painting to be
done.
7.
Remove
masking tape from door fittings and clean properly.
WORKMANSHIP/INSPECTION
1.
Uniform
gap should be maintained between frame and shutter on all sides.
2.
Door
shutter and all fittings should operate smoothly.
3.
Screws
should be counter sunk.
4.
L
Drop screws shall be of 30X7 mm, steel screw (full and half threaded)
5.
Door
shutter should be in plumb.
6.
Tower
bolt should be working smoothly.
7.
Ensure
checklists are filled during and after work.
